Age Spot Removal and Prevention

10 October 2011 No Comment

There are many choices for age spot removal. Before you choose one, you should learn about how to protect your skin in the future.

It is a combination of the sun’s damaging rays and a lack of antioxidants in the skin that lead to the formation of the spots. Those factors contribute to all of the visible signs of aging, including wrinkles, sagging and roughness.

If you have the spots, you probably have some of those other things, too. They might not be bad right now, but if you do not take some additional steps when caring for your skin, they will become bad in the future.

The first step is to be cautious about the amount of time you spend in the sun. You want to spend some time outdoors, because it is good for your health. You just need protection.

Unless you want to look years older than you are, you want to protect your face at all times. You can do that by wearing a hat with a wide brim. You should always wear UV-filtering sunglasses in order to reduce your risk of crow’s feet and cataracts.

Depending on the age spot removal treatment you choose, your skin may be even more sensitive to sunlight following the treatment. Creams that inhibit melanin production, laser treatments and cryotherapy all cause increased sensitivity. Chemical peels also cause an increased risk of burning. You will need to be even more cautious following the treatments.

Only the anti-aging creams are unaccompanied by increased sensitivity. It is still advisable to protect your skin from the sun, but you would also be wise to use an anti-aging cream before and after age spot removal.

After evaluating the sunscreens on the market today, Australia’s Dr Dingle advised that the use of a cream containing vitamins would be a good choice for anyone at risk of skin cancer or sun damage. Vitamins and other nutrients can penetrate into the skin. So, creams containing them can basically provide sun protection. Not by blocking UV rays, but by preventing free radical damage.

Some of the nutrient rich anti-aging creams on the market could be beneficial for age spot removal. Certain ingredients have been shown to cause an increase in the skin’s antioxidant capacity. Others have been shown to reverse sun damage.

Dr Dingle also advised eating more fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of antioxidants. Studies have shown that oral consumption of antioxidants makes the skin more resistant to UV damage and free radical activity.

People are living longer and looking better because of nutrition experts like Dr Dingle. Preventative medicine involves optimum nutrient intake, maintaining a healthy weight, eating right and exercising regularly. The ability that the body has to heal is truly amazing.

Those spots that we have been talking about can fade over time, because of the skin’s natural powers of rejuvenation. In other words, expensive or irritating age spot removal may not be necessary. All you might need is a nutrient-rich face cream.
